Conversion of Slaughterhouse Wastes to Solid Fuel Using Hydrothermal Carbonization

چکیده
In this study, cattle and pig slaughterhouse wastes (SHWs) were hydrothermally carbonized at 150–300 °C, the properties of SHW-derived hydrochar evaluated for its use as a solid fuel. The results demonstrated that increasing hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) treatment temperature improved energy-related (i.e., fuel ratio, higher heating value, coalification degree) both hydrochars. However, improvements hydrochars not dramatic hydrochars, due to lipid-rich components do participate in HTC reaction. regard, there was no merit using on SHW production or terms energy retention efficiency. On other hand, mild approximately 200 °C deemed suitable converting value-added findings study suggest conversion SHWs can provide an environmentally benign method waste recovery from abandoned biomass. efficiency varies depending chemical composition raw feedstock.

Conversion of Municipal Solid Wastes into Biochar through Hydrothermal Carbonization
In this study, the hydrothermal treatment of municipal solid wastes (MSWs) for the production of biochar as a renewable solid fuel was investigated. The properties of surrogate MSWs and mixtures of newspaper and vegetables were greatly improved by hydrothermal treatment and were similar to those of coal-like fuel substances. Hydrothermal treatment increased the calorific value, the fixed carbon...
متن کاملThermochemical conversion of livestock wastes: carbonization of swine solids.
Slow pyrolysis or carbonization promotes the conversion of animal manures such as swine manure into charcoal. In this paper, the carbonizing kinetics of swine solids taken from different treatment stages were investigated with a thermogravimetric analyzer. Compared to their biologically stabilized counterpart (lagoon sludge) with an activation energy of 160 kJ mol(-1), the activation energies f...
متن کاملHydrothermal Treatment of Municipal Solid Waste to Produce Solid Fuel
This paper describes the application of innovative hydrothermal technology on local municipal solid waste (MSW) to produce low chlorine content solid co-firing fuel with coal. Raw MSW was treated at temperatures ranging from 210 to 235°C with 30 to 90 minutes holding period. The process yielded slump products which were then naturally dried to 5% moisture content, resulted in dry products with ...
متن کاملEnergy Recovery Efficiency of Poultry Slaughterhouse Sludge Cake by Hydrothermal Carbonization
Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) is a promising technology used for bioenergy conversion from bio-wastes such as sewage sludge, livestock manure, and food waste. To determine the optimum HTC reaction temperature in maximizing the gross energy recovery efficiency of poultry slaughterhouse sludge cake, a pilot-scale HTC reactor was designed and operated under reaction temperatures of 170, 180, 19...
متن کاملHydrothermal carbonization of municipal waste streams.
Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) is a novel thermal conversion process that can be used to convert municipal waste streams into sterilized, value-added hydrochar. HTC has been mostly applied and studied on a limited number of feedstocks, ranging from pure substances to slightly more complex biomass such as wood, with an emphasis on nanostructure generation. There has been little work exploring ...
